A new year brings new audiences and exposure to MY NEIGHBOR MY KILLER.
2010 has already proven to be an exciting year for MY NEIGHBOR MY KILLER. After a successful run at the Maysles Cinema in January, the film was also part of MoMA’s prestigious Contenders Series and made its way across the globe for screenings that included a packed house at the Toronto Human Rights Watch, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art (Charleston, SC), Human Rights Human Wrongs Film Festival in Oslo and the Mémoires Blessées Series in Geneva. In broadcasting news, the film played on Belgian TV on February 10.Stay tuned for announcements soon with more theatrical and broadcasting developments as well as further Rwanda endeavors.Right now, I am preparing to embark on an international festival and screening tour that kicks off next week. For a large part of March and April, I will be traveling to various European and US festivals and showings of MY NEIGHBOR MY KILLER, starting with One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival on March 14 in Prague. Here is just a sampling of the European events at which I’ll be present for Q & As: The Cinema Novo Festival in Bruges, Belgium; La Bobine in Chalon-sur-Saône (shown in DCP), and in Dijon, France; Sciences-Po in Paris; and the Movies That Matter Festival in The Hague, Netherlands. Following this European adventure, I will be returning to the US for a series of MY NEIGHBOR MY KILLER screenings in Denver, Sarasota, Louisville, Madison, etc.While I try to attend as many of the film’s screenings as possible, I can only cover so much territory. Please see below for information on several other European and US locations where the film is being played without me. That information is all noted in the description of each screening or festival (at the bottom of this email).
ON THE ICE PEOPLE FRONT
While this harsh winter has most of us feeling like “ice people,” ICE PEOPLE the film continues to circulate on the DVD and festival landscape. For those of you across the globe looking to get a hold of the film, you have several options. The DVD continues to be available to anyone anywhere for purchase on www.icepeople.com. For those in the US, the film can be rented on Netflix. In France, you can find the film on Arte VOD for download or DVD-on-demand.
The film will be participating in the Cinema Planeta Film Festival in Cuernavaca, Mexico next week. What makes this festival particularly special is that not only will I be there for the screenings, but I will also be joined by the film’s Cinematographer, Sylvestre Guidi, and Sound Recordist, Richard Fleming. The three of us are looking forward to trading in our crampons and snowsuits for flip-flops and t-shirts.

2010 a démarré sur les chapeaux de roue pour MON VOISIN MON TUEUR, avec deux projections qui ont fait salle comble au prestigieux MoMA de New York, une semaine au Maysles Cinema, puis plusieurs projections aux Etats Unis et en Europe… entre autres, au Festival de Human Rights Watch de Toronto, au festival de Palm Springs, au Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art de l’Université de Charleston en Caroline du Sud, au festival Human Rights Human Wrong d’Oslo, et au Théâtre Saint Gervais de Genève dans le cadre de la série Mémoires Blessées. Le film a été diffusé à la télévision belge le 10 février.J’espère pouvoir bientôt vous donner des nouvelles de prochaines sorties en salles et diffusions télé, ainsi que de nouveaux développements au Rwanda.
Pour l’instant, je me prépare à une tournée de festivals et de séances spéciales qui démarre la semaine prochaine. Pour une grande partie de mars et d’avril, je vais être en Europe pour de nombreuses projections de MON VOISIN MON TUEUR, qui vont débuter à Prague au One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival le 14 mars. Quelques-unes des projections auxquelles j’assisterai incluent: le festival Cinema Novo à Bruges en Belgique; La Bobine au Cinéma Axel de Chalon-sur-Saône (en projection numérique DCP) et à l’Eldorado de Dijon; Sciences-Po à Paris; Chroma au Cinéma Le Royal du Mans; La Mairie du 3ème à Paris; et le Movies that Matter Film Festival à La Haye. Après cette tournée européenne, je vais revenir aux Etats Unis pour plusieurs projections à Denver, Sarasota, Louisville, Madison, etc.

QUELQUES NOUVELLES DE ICE PEOPLE
A plusieurs reprises, le rude hiver de New York (je sais qu’il a fait froid à Paris aussi…) nous a donné l’impression d’être presque en Antarctique. Pour ceux qui souhaitent comparer, ICE PEOPLE est toujours disponible à la vente en DVD sur www.icepeople.com. En France, on le trouve sur Arte VOD, soit en DVD à la demande, soit en téléchargement. Et aux Etats Unis, il est disponible sur Netflix.
ICE PEOPLE devrait aussi être re-diffusé sur ARTE en avril. En attendant, je dois me rendre à Cuernavaca au Mexique cette semaine pour plusieurs projections dans le cadre du festival Cinema Planeta. Ce qui me fait particulièrement plaisir, c’est que Sylvestre Guidi (caméra) et Richard Fleming (son) seront tous les deux avec moi au Mexique. On va enlever nos grosses bottes et nos parkas, et enfiler nos sandales et nos maillots.
